Lawn renovation
What is a lawn renovation?
Our Lawn Renovation Service is perfect for lawns that have declined over the years, are overrun with weeds and moss, or have been damaged by hot and dry summers and wet, boggy winters.
To rejuvenate and bring your lawn back to life we will scarify, aerate, overseed, fertilise & topdress.
Below is a detailed description of each process involved.
Scarification -
This process is carried out to remove organic matter from around the base of the grass plants and tidy up any straggly lateral growth. In a nutshell, scarification removes material, probably in the form of thatch or moss that will otherwise prevent good dense grass growth.
Aeration -
Aeration involves perforating the soil with small holes to allow air, water, and nutrients to penetrate the grassroots. This helps the roots grow deeply and produce a stronger, more vigorous lawn. The main reason for aerating is to alleviate soil compaction and aid drainage.
Overseeding -
Overseeding will help infill damaged, bare patches or thin, worn areas and will give your lawn a thicker, denser sward. It also Improves the colour of the lawn & will reduce weed and moss invasion. Overseeding is also a good opportunity to introduce the more suited grass varieties within the current lawn to give the lawn a more even look in colour coverage.
Pre seed fertiliser -
A pre seeding fertiliser is a phosphate-rich fertiliser that provides the seedbed with the best foundation for establishing new seedlings. It is applied to the lawn area just after aeration. It falls into the holes created by the aerator and boosts deep into the soil for fast establishment accelerating the growth over the course of 6 weeks.
Topdressing -
Topdressing adds nutrients and microbes to the existing soil to improve its overall structure.
Topdressing also hides the majority of the seed following a renovation from the hungry birds but this will still need to be monitored.
