Terms & Conditions
The Turf Smurf - TTS
We want your lawn to look great all year round. That’s why we have a lawn treatment programme that we follow when we visit you. But we also need your help to keep your lawn healthy and beautiful. Here are 3 simple things you must do between our visits to get the best out of our treatment programmes:
Mow your lawn regularly. Once a week when the grass is growing fast.
Water your lawn regularly. This is especially important when it’s dry and hot outside and in periods of drought.
Keep your lawn clean. Remove any leaves or debris that might block the sunlight or air from reaching the grass.
Payment -
These terms & conditions apply to both domestic and commercial customers of The Turf Smurf. All invoices for work carried out must be paid before our next visit. Late payment may result in future works needing payment in advance.
Complaints policy -
All complaints and disputes must be raised in writing (Email) within two working days of The Turf Smurf leaving the site.
Cancellation period & Deposits-
If you wish to cancel your service, grass-cutting, and lawn treatments must be done 7 working days in advance of the agreed service date. Anytime after 7 days, you will be charged in full for the service. All deposits are non-refundable if services are canceled less than a week before the work is due to begin.
Grass Cutting -
All lawns cut by The Turf Smurf will be cut appropriate to the current or future weather conditions. Lawns will be cut no lower than TTS recommends.
*Note that a charge may be added to lawn cutting if repeated dogs mess is left on the lawn when the customer has prior knowledge of our visit. Any quote given whilst the lawn is clear from obstacles may be affected if any other items are on the lawns, for example, but not limited to, children’s toys, tables and chairs, or trampolines. For health and safety reasons TTS lawn technicians will not be able to lift or move larger items off the lawn eg, trampolines, tables, swings etc,etc
Turf laying / New lawn installation -
We would suggest that the new turf is thoroughly watered as soon as the turf is laid, and watering should continue every day between 5 - 11am until the turf has rooted. At this stage, the frequency of watering can be reduced, unless hot weather is present. In this case, make sure the turf is watered so that it doesn’t dry out, shrink and curl at the edges. (Please note, After The Turf Smurf has left site, it is the customers responsibility to make sure the areas turfed are watered and cared for appropriate to the weather conditions. TTS will not be liable for any damage caused by lack of care or adverse weather conditions after the service has been carried out.
Lawn Treatments -
*Animals - Most common pets, cats and dogs, are at very little risk from fertilisation and weed control treatments. The only thing that The Turf Smurf advise for most treatments is that the lawn is watered thoroughly and dries before letting them back on the lawn.
Before Application -
We ask that you do not cut/mow the lawn within two days of us attending for lawn treatments. Although this is not essential, it will just aid the service we provide.
Leaves, twigs, or any other natural debris should be removed as much as possible before our visit.
Please ensure that you leave your gate or access area open, and clear for our operators to access the lawn. We are happy to secure the gate after by arrangement.
Please ensure that the lawn is clear ready for our arrival, we are not able to clear the lawn of toys, garden games, animal fowling or any other larger obstructions.
There is no need to be present at the time of the application unless you wish to be present, as long as we can have sufficient access to the lawn.
Our service does not require any outside power to complete a treatment to your lawn. We might need access to a water source to mix some of the products we use.
After Application -
Once an application or service has been applied to your lawn, it is best to avoid walking over the treated area until it has been thoroughly watered in & dries. Mowing/cutting the lawn should be avoided for at least three days after application. Our treatments including weed killer and fertiliser applications work better the longer they stay untouched.
Any chemical that is to be sprayed will only be so if the conditions allow and is safe to do so for the operative, the environment and the general public.
Some of our applications and/or treatments may leave the lawn in a less attractive manor in the short term, all our treatments and services are designed to enable your lawn to look better in the long term.
The Turf Smurf is not liable and is excluded in respect of loss or damage arising from:
Faulty manufacture or inherent defect in any product which is used for the purposes of this contract.
Previous treatments, applications, or products used by the Client or any third party prior to these treatments.
Any damage or contamination to any adjacent or associated area or surface.
Any deterioration of the lawn due to natural weather conditions, lack of watering, wildlife/animal damage, leaf damage or due to a poor maintenance regime.
